Description[edit]
The Cecerops ProtoMech was designed and built by Clan Blood Spirit using materials acquired from Clan Snow Raven. Unlike first generation ProtoMechs like the Erinyes, the Cecerops has high speed and decent weaponry. The high speed allows the Cecerops to outrun most 'Mechs and Elementals, while keeping pace with fast hovercraft like the Shamash. Though not as heavily armored as some other ProtoMechs, the design's high speed prevents most opponents from getting a target lock.[4]
The Cecerops is assigned to the best available Blood Spirit pilots. These officers are highly skilled and very experienced in ProtoMech tactics by the time they are assigned to Cecerops.[4]
The Snow Ravens received several shipments of the Cecerops, but deployment details are unknown.[4]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Cecerops is armed with a single ER Micro Laser. Combined with the Cecerops' high speed, the ammunition independent weapon makes the Proto an excellent raider and harasser.[4]
Variants[edit]
- Cecerops 4
- Exchanging the ER Micro Laser for a Micro Pulse Laser, this variant keeps the speed of the baseline Cecerops by reducing the armor protection. Unlike the previous two variants, this version is not used by the Blood Spirits.[4] BV (2.0) = 82[7]
- Cecerops 5
- Introduced by the Raven Alliance for pilots on the edge of burnout, this Cecerops variant replaces the standard engine with a Magnetic Clamp system. Armed with an AP Gauss Rifle this Cecerops is designed to support OmniMechs and possibly provide them with more protection.[8]
